First Time Home Buyers

Buying Your First Home — You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone

Buying your first home is one of the most exciting and most overwhelming things you'll ever do. There's a lot to learn, a lot of moving parts, and a lot of moments where it's easy to feel like everyone else knows something you don't.

I've been through this process with a lot of first time buyers — and I genuinely love this part of my job.

How I Got Here

A big part of what I do is relocation — helping people move to Seattle for a new job or a new chapter. That means I've watched a lot of people arrive in this city, find their first apartment, settle into a neighborhood, fall in love with Seattle — and then eventually decide they're ready to buy.

I've been with many of those clients for that entire journey. From their first rental to their first home purchase. That experience has made me really good at meeting first time buyers exactly where they are — whether that's total beginner or someone who's done their research and just needs a guide.

What First Time Buyers Actually Need

In my experience, first time buyers don't need someone to talk at them — they need someone to listen, explain things clearly, and walk alongside them through a process that can feel really big.

Here's what I bring to the table:

Education without the overwhelm. I'll explain every step in plain language — what it means, why it matters, and what you need to do. No jargon, no assumptions that you already know things you don't. I've also created a YouTube video series walking through each contingency you'll encounter in a purchase offer — in plain language, one at a time — so you can feel truly informed before you sign anything. Patience. This is a big decision and it deserves the time it takes. I'm not in a rush and I don't want you to feel rushed either.

Honest guidance. If something isn't right for you, I'll tell you. My job is to help you make a great decision — not just close a deal.

Neighborhood expertise. For most first time buyers, figuring out where to live is just as hard as figuring out how to buy. I know Seattle's neighborhoods deeply and I'll help you find the right fit for your lifestyle, commute, and budget.

The Steps — Simplified

Buying your first home doesn't have to feel complicated. Here's the simplified version of what the process looks like:

Get pre-approved — Before anything else, connect with a lender to understand what you can afford. I have trusted lender contacts I'm happy to share if you need a starting point.

Define what you're looking for — We'll talk through your priorities, your lifestyle, your commute, and your budget. Getting clear on what matters most makes the search much more focused and efficient.

Start looking — I'll set you up on RealScout, a smarter search tool that tracks the market in real time, and we'll start touring properties together. I'll help you understand what you're seeing and ask the questions you might not think to ask.

Make an offer — When you find the right home, I'll guide you through crafting a competitive offer and walk you through every detail before we submit. Before we get here, I'd encourage you to watch my YouTube contingency series so you understand every part of what you're signing.

Inspection and due diligence — Once your offer is accepted we'll schedule a home inspection and I'll help you understand what the results mean and how to respond.

Closing day — This is the good part. We'll walk through the final paperwork together and you'll get your keys.

Ready to Take the First Step?

If you're thinking about buying your first home in Seattle — whether that's this year or a few years from now — I'd love to start the conversation. There's no pressure and no rush. Just an honest conversation about where you are and what makes sense next.
